Clay pendants

I'm always disappointed in how my stuff looks in photos versus real life, but the photos actually help me "see" pieces differently. I worked on a couple of necklaces over the weekend (photos at 6) but spent most of my time making these three pendants. Actually, if truth be told, I spend most of my time running from Jo Ann's to Michael's on the weekend cashing in coupons and adding to stash. These three will eventually become necklaces so stay tuned!

Contest entry

Stringing Magazine (yes, there are magazines for people like me) runs a quarterly contest. This quarter's theme is "Fairy Tales". Who wants a necklace with three little dangling pigs or poison apples? Fairy tales are about bling, baby--happily ever after stuff. I'm still playing with the photo to submit, but here's my rendition of Briar Rose.

Embellished

One of my new challenges is to buy a focal piece from one of the big box craft stores and design around it. I bought this pendant at Michael's and fastened it with two types of chain. Then I made three flowers out of copper beads and a beaded dangle and connected those asymmetrically to the chain. It's a long piece and looks great with t-shirts.

My first custom order!

I made a bracelet for Susie for her birthday. Last time we were together she asked if I could make a necklace to coordinate. (You notice I didn't use the word "match". Old ladies do the matchey-matchey thing.)

Susie--it is ready for pick up. Hope you like it!

Studio Crow

I had a great Labor Day weekend. The weather was perfect for day trips in this beautiful country we are privileged to call home. On Saturday I drove up to Bellingham and then came home Chuckanut Drive that hugs the Sound. I stopped in my favorite gallery and found this metal cut-out of a crow. He now stands on the window sill in my "studio" (aka laundry room) to provide inspiration for Crow's Feet Crafts. The gallery had crows in various poses. Decided when I'm rich and famous I'll buy him some crow cousins to share his perch.
